was tight fitting the funnels are at a great risk of falling off."

I think this might be a concern if mom is exclisively pumping with such
a device.  However, I think in most cases she is nursing when not at
work, so the ducts would get good drainage then even if there is some
restriction with the elastic.  I have seen the setup and it appears to
be a gentle, but effective  hold.
