I would like to explore the statement that Level I babies rarely stay over
1 or even 2 more days for jaundice and bili-light treatment. I'm sure this
is in part from excellent help the mothers receive in getting these babies
to breast frequently and effectively.

1. Are these babies with NO risk factors like Coombs+, or the caput (blood
blister?) from vacuum extraction, or blood incompatibilities, or other risk
factors?
2. What is the average per-day cost for keeping a Term baby in term nursery
for one full day solely for bili-light treatment?
3. Is this "low to no" stay-over rate related to OB birth management? If
so, what do you do or not do that you feel makes a difference?
4. What is the Bili-number you use by 24/48 hours? Your line in the sand
that says Stay or Go Home?
Thanks for your time spent on my query. I would love to write up a "did you
know" for our staff newsletter. Mat-Child Mgmt has stated flatly that we
will NOT go for Baby Friendly because it "costs too much". They want
Family-Friendly instead so other family members will be included, instead
of just focusing on the baby. That's their perception.
