My name is Paul Pfennig and about a month ago I asked a question
about relactation. I just wanted to give you an update on the situation.

After reading the great responses from all of you and talking with
people in the community to allow access to a pump suitable for this
client, I contacted my client. I asked her again about her feelings
about breastfeeding/pumping, and she replied she was still interested.
All she needed to do was to pick up the pump at WIC. I did not hear from
her for about two weeks as she found a place to stay in the same town with
her baby. Upon return I called her and found out she did not pick up the
pump and was not pumping. Her desire/drive to breastfeed or pump was
gone.

Although the outcome for this client was not optimal, I learned
some important things:

1. Reinforced the role of a nurse that we are here to provide information
and resources so the client can make an informed decision.

2. I did not know relactation existed, nor did many other students in our
clinical group. The excellent responses from all of you were great
education for myself and will look for opportunities to use this
information in the future.

Thank you all for your generous help and support. I was amazed at
the time and effort each of you put into my situation. I saw firsthand
the selflessness of the professionals involved in lactation.
