Received this from our systems admin at Ummed. Print this out for future
use, please, as this represents a MAJOR change on search commands and
techniques. Thanks. Kathleen

Because of the large amount of memory that LISTSERV uses when searching
a very large set of archives, I had to split the archives for our two
biggest lists. For both LACTNET and TLC, there is now a "current"
archive and one for 1995 and 1996. They are named:

LACTNET (has LACTNET postings for 1997 and 1998)
LACTNET95-96 (has LACTNET postings for 1995 and 1996)
TLC (has TLC postings for 1997 and 1998)
TLC95-96 (has TLC postings for 1995 and 1996)

People sending in a search job in the normal way will now be searching
only about one year of the relevant list, rather than the entire
archives ... this is probably close to what many people want, but for
some others it won't be enough. For those other people, they'll also
need to search the "backfile" list (LACTNET95-96 or TLC95-96), using
either the Web interface or the usual e-mail interface ... just changing
the list name. For example, to find all messages in LACTNET that
mentioned my name,(I don't recommend this, by the way) you'd send the commands

        SEARCH Bruce IN LACTNET
        SEARCH Bruce IN LACTNET95-96

The 95-96 lists are not at this very moment available for searching; They
will be available shortly. The archives are all there; they're just not
indexed yet.

There is one other, temporary problem this will generate for people: index
numbers for the messages have changed (#1 is now the first message in 1997,
rather than the first message for the list), so people who are requesting
messages from old indexes or old search jobs are going to get error messages
about the message number not existing. This will clear up soon. People who
want messages from 1998 may just want to GET LACTNET LOG9801A or whatever.

Thanks. Kathleen
