I don't know if there is research or guidelines out there, but there
definitely are voices of experience and common sense.
Feel free to share my response and perhaps you can compile some responses
and share with your management.

I allowed 1 hr per outpatient, some took less time and some took more time,
1 hr was the average. In between I was seeing inpatients, it wasn't easy.

Here is a suggestion:
Keep a record of the visits, if you don't already, or compile what you
already have. List the things that you commonly do at every outpatient
visit and the approximate length of time that each component takes. Even if
the visit is "just for a weight check and all is going well," inevitably
other things come up (jaundice, some engorgement, a medicine question?),
anticipatory guidance should be provided, and mother should feel validated
and supported. Therefore most moms need to talk with the LC at least 20 or
30 minutes.
