I have recently been speaking with a couple of moms who have breastfed kids
that are mildly autistic.  It was interesting to me to learn that in both
cases the children had a father who had been exclusively fed *soy* formula.

And it got me to wondering....  There's still no real proof of what the
phytoestrogens and high levels of aluminum -- and heaven only knows what
*else* -- in soy formulas are doing to babies.  Is it possible that the
effects show up on the *next* generation?  Could there be a permanant effect
on the gonads?

Obviously a sample of two isn't terribly scientific.  Still, feeding a
developing infant a processed plant substance that's full of non-mammalian
compounds seems likely to have quite different ill effects compared to the
use of modified animal milks.

A familial predisposition to allergy that would make soy the preferred option
in formula could play a part too, of course -- but in light of all that
*isn't* known about soy formulas, the coincidence struck me.

Thoughts?  Anyone else ever seen an association here?
