I know of a mum with the same story of skin and nipple damage which appeared
out of the blue as it were. Hefty doses of IV antibiotics were required -
hefty because there was a week of mucking about with different doctors, and
recommendation to quit the feeding, before the right medication and advice
was found. She had never had any trouble with the other 4 children and a had
lengthy breastfeeding history. No real cause was found but the feeding
continued through the process, healing and beyond.
