Hello from a 1st time poster - just a bit unsure of the mechanics, but here
goes: I had a call from a mom who is 9 months pregnant and was having blood
coming from her nipples. Her OB Dr. referred to a surgeon who diagnosed
Papilloma. An ultrasound and mammogram were done and the Dr. was satisfied
that it was a benign condition, but told her to dry her breasts up
immediately after the delivery and then come in to "have the ducts removed."
He definitely did not want her to breastfeed her baby. She really wants
to BF even if only for a few weeks, but is scared not to follow the
surgeon's advice. I checked Dr. Ruth Lawrence's book and the BF Answer
Book, but am wondering if anyone has any other references on this condition.
The mom is willing to seek another opinion if we can direct her to a Dr. who
is more familiar with this and agrees with BF. Thanks in advance for any
information.
