This is actually the 10th step of the BFHI ie "support and refer to
breastfeeding support groups in the community"
I agree with you that referral from a HCP can make a big difference. Our
local ABA region has just produced business cards for our region that
include relevent contact details and information about what we offer. We
have given to HCPs and are encouraging them to give to mums (asking them to
tell mothers to keep it in their wallet so it's handy and doesn't get thrown
out!). It's going to be interesting to see how well it works.
Talk to your local LLL and if they are happy to go for it get that Dr
writing all the referrals he can!
