We have a small room, but it is big enough. We have a small desk,
office chair and computer/printer. The computer is essential, in my
opinion. Of course a telephone with voicemail. We have a small bedside
table with drawers. On top is the Medela BabyWeigh scale and in the
drawers are diapers, wipes, towels, blankets, washcloths. I use the
towels and wash cloths alot. For leaky moms, RPS, etc. I have my own
thermostat which is very very good because I keep the room warmer than
the rest of the unit.
I also have a 4-drawer file cabinet. These are all necessary. I have a
bookcase where there are books and I keep boxes of nipple shields,
large size flanges, and forms/handouts. I have a loveseat which is
vinyl, so easy to clean, and I have a rocker/recliner which I have
taken to using much more for "laid back" breastfeeding. I wish I had a
changing table. The room is not big enough for strollers or extra
family or siblings. But it can fit the mom, baby, dad and one toddler
fairly well.
This has worked very well for the several years we have had our BF
Center. The only thing I ask for periodically is more supplies (nipple
shields, flanges, gel pads -- don't use often but need at times), and
updated reference books every couple years. The breast pumps (Elites)
are kept on the maternity unit, along with the double pump kits that
go with them.
