I have a question on breastfeeding rates which may have been discussed
before but I can't find anything directly relevant in the archives. I
have the Dec. 2002 Pediatrics article quoting Ross data saying that
exclusive breastfeeding rates are about 47 percent, falling to 17
percent at 6 months. I have breastfeeding rates for Sweden at 98 percent
initiating. I think these are exclusive rates, but I'm not sure. Does
anyone know anything about breastfeeding rates in Scandinavian
countries? I'm writing an article and want to make sure I'm comparing
exclusive to exclusive rates.

Also, although breastfeeding (not exclusive) rates appear to be
increasing in this country over the last decade, does this really
reflect progress? Does anyone have data or information about what these
numbers really mean - how many more parents supplement w/ formula, etc?

Thanks.
