I have tried searching the archives and have not located hemabate, a
drug used for pp bleeding. A mom received this at my hospital, and was
told not to nurse for 3 days. When I came to work, she was 24 hrs pp, I
called the Lactation Center in Rochester, Dr. Lawrence's info site, and
they said it could cause interference with closure of the PDA, and to
delay 5 times the half-life, my pharmacist said the half-life was 1/2
hr, so that would be 2 1/2 hrs to delay nursing. The mom successfully
started nursing, the baby is on IV antibiotics and had a sepsis workup
for one temp after delivery(standard with some peds, others
wait).Anyway, my question is, did I give the right advice, or any other
info on hemabate as this drug is used occasionally. Any drug experts out
there is cyberspace have some info for me.

TIA, Ellen Mahony-where it is getting late and no new messages to keep
me up later reading this wonderful info on Lactnet, agree with others
when you get caught up with the digests, it's almost sad to have no new
messages!
