Pat, you know, I love you dearly, and as I said so many times, I do not
consider any local BF conference worthy of my attention unless you will
be sitting in the back, actively cross-stitching and absorbing
thebreastfeeding knowledge ;D

But at the same time the 3rd Newton's law was never repealed and thus
"for every action (or comment for that matter) there is an equal and
opposite reaction", or (paraphrasing your question) "that's why too many
nurses/LCs are still promoting "20 min on each breast every 3 hours" and
are blaming all breastfeeding problems on TT's and doctors?" ;D

Talking seriously, there is nothing wrong in old knowledge, as long the
said knowledge is compensated for the new data as it does become available.
And there is a big difference between being exposed to the knowledge
(that's what the CE credits are for), retaining the knowledge (that's
what - at least theoretically - exams are for) and using that knowledge
in practice.

Talking about "your area" - you would agree that NJ's attitude towards
the BF is changing even in your "deep South". Slowly, very-very slowly,
but surely. It take time to change the mentality and we are doing
exactly that. And as long as we are having fun doing it - we are fine.

BTW - we actually do have fun promoting the old techniques in lieu of
the new knowledge in NJ (Pat knows, she was there) and here is the proof
(both of Pat's presence and everybody having fun learning the new
"grandmother" tricks):
