Hi,all:

I received a call from a head nurse of obstetric ward in another hospital. A
mother with chronic renal failure, receiving regular hemodialysis gave birth
to a full term healthy baby one week ago. The mother was eager to breastfeed
her baby. The obstetrician said no problem but the medical doctor said
"NO!". His reason was that one study showed that such patient's blood
contained  high level of abnormal metabolites. I agreed with the
obstetrician that the mother should keep on breastfeeding. I also told the
nurse to ask the medical doctor to show us some solid data to prove that
breastfeeding was not suitable in such condition.
In the meantime, I had searched Medical midline, Lactnet, Dr. Ruth A
Larwrence's book, and the Answer book of LLLI. I could not find any
information about this issue. I need more support to give the mother more
confidence. Any information will be highly appreciate.
