I have come across several people saying the same thing (that the size
went down after weaning), though, like you say, all had nursed more than
a "token 6 mos".  I'll be interested to see what I have left when I'm
done.  ;-)

What I think is interesting here, is that a) we know the first baby gets
the heaviest load of toxins from the mom. b) toxins are carried in fat
tissue more than anywhere else and c) the breast is mainly fatty tissue
except for the milk ducts.  This leads me to think that d) probably a
lot of the milk that is made in the breast comes from directly
surrounding the breast area and in the breast, therefore drawing the
extra calories from the breast area where the fat tissue is.  Which
makes them shrink away after a while.  ;-)

It's not terribly scientific, but it's my own personal theory.
