Yikes!

Our nurses use pacifiers dipped in Sweet Ease for pain control during circs - - I'm wondering if this is what the researchers in this study refer to as "(4) Ingestion of oral glucose solution" since the next two interventions are "feedings".  I have never considered this as a supplement since the Sweet Ease is used as a flavoring, not a feeding, although I realize that babies will still swallow and absorb some sucrose in a very small volume.  Since this measure is ordered by the peds and used as a pain intervention, can Sweet Ease be considered medication when measuring our inpatient supplementation stats?
