Linda,
You mention that we don't really trust our blood supply either. I see
it as part of a larger problem about whether we can trust the medical
system all together. Errors happen, the system is not well set up to
acknowledge, prevent or address them. There is a lot we don't know
about in terms of medical safety, procedures, etc. and because of many
factors about medical culture and the current medical system and
climate, patients and docs don't communicate well about what is known
and what isn't. etc. Donor breast milk is part of that problem with all
of the additional problems brought about by the fact that it's breast
milk.
Yes, there is a lot to do, keeping in mind the context may help us
figure out who our partners can be in this effort toward health and
safety.
