her daughter Julia to breastfeed

required reading for anyone working with getting a baby (back) to
breastfeeding.
Many women have used the same or similar techniques to teach adopted
children to breastfeed. I get frustrated every time I hear that another
mother to be has been told that her child is too old to be taught to
breastfeed and it seems to happen regularly. Personally I don't think that
it is ever too late and that the most important ingredient is patience and
persistance on behalf of the mother and to have that she needs support and
encouragement.
