Now why on earth would the doctor want the mother to stop
breastfeeding?  So that the child would be traumatized by forced
weaning as well as by his illness and the daily or more needles he
will need?  To punish the mother for breastfeeding, and maybe
believing that breastfeeding decreases the risk of diabetes?

To make intake of food reliable?  Excuse me, but we have to be very
careful about restricting food in children this age, and there is no
reason to stop breastfeeding so that the doctor can feel he is being
more scientific knowing how many milk exchanges the baby takes.

It is the parents' decision, not the doctor's, about whether or not to
stop breastfeeding.  The mother should ask why this is "necessary".
It isn't, actually.
