I have made a vest out of a soft draw sheet for thos thos mums with
extremely large breats when they have become engorged .At this stage their
bras simply do not give the support and appropriate pressue to help reduce
their engorgement. It is also easy to slip cabbage leaves or mouldable ice
packs in them to reduce the engorgment.
The mums like it as they can unpin the front to breastfed and still have the
other breast supported. The shoulder straps can be adjusted as necessary and
it is comfortable to wear and doesn't cut inot them as their bras do.They
can wear one all day with comfort and usually about 2-3days while they are
in hospital works for them.
I suppose our mums here in Australia get spoilt as they are able to start in
hosptial for up to 5 days or more if necessary due to our health care system
and national health insurance scheme.
Our hospital has a follow-up scheme for home visiting up to day 5 for those
who do go home after 24hrs.This ensures that our mums are not experiencing
any problems with breastfeeding(we hope,at least that is our aim).
