Hi All,

Do you think it is an aversion or frustration thing, where baby might be
gentled out of it by alternative

feeding in nursing position, or is it more of a neuromuscular/physiological
thing, where the position is just painful or difficult to coordinate in no
matter how the baby feeds?

Jaye again: in this case - no - no aversion issues here. I do believe it
is a pain issue given some sort of physical/muscular issue. It just needs
to be evaluated and corrected. This is something that I believe is the
remainder of the original physical issue.

Will baby attempt to latch with less problem if mom is flat on her back or
even leaning way back

so baby is more towards belly than true sidelying and therefore more
inherently stable?

Jaye again: Yes - baby will attempt sort of - a lot of emotional
frustration going on here due to her own physical issues. Also, since there
is a problem with her being able to use her arms attempting to latch is made
even more difficult. When you watch this little on you can literally "see"
that where she wants to be - but that she can't get there well. Moms gives
gentle assistance but does let baby do most of the work. Baby tends to get
more upset when she can't get there herself - in other words - when help is
given she gets more upset. :-) It's kinda cute, actually! Mom commented
on it too.

Time will tell with this dyad - but mom is 'on it' and will hang in there as
long as needed. I have 2 other couples I am working with right now who
call me regularly but refuse to even consider my suggestions - as a result
their babies issues are dragging on and moms are pumping and bot feeding and
struggling when they don't need to. Why they keep calling me (when I keep
telling them the same thing over and over) is beyond me.go figure. Then I
have this mom (the one above) who does everything I suggest, even tho she
takes her time with it sometimes, but is seeing the results and getting to
where she wants to be.

Keeps it interesting that is for sure.
