Socks on hands might slow itching. Ask ped about small dose of anti itching
oral meds. The ped should be able to give a high potency steroid cream or
ointment to use for 1 week to calm symptoms down, then switch to a lower
potency steroid. Babies don't have to be as miserable as you explained.

I'm sorting allergy articles and happen to be in the allegens in breast milk
this week :-( Besides cow's milk, cheese, yogurt, sour cream, beef, etc,
she should probably eliminate all nuts, soy, egg whites and fish. You have
to stop these foods for a minimum of 2 weeks, then reintroduce one at a
time, to see what happens. Another article mentions eliminating wheat,
citrus and chocolate.

When you have a family history of allergic parents (one or both) the babies
are at higher risk to have problems. Many of the articles recommend
avoidance of milk & egg during pregnancy .(1 case-personal history) I
couldn't touch chocolate when nursing 4th baby, so I simply continued not
eating it during my next pregnancy -they overlapped :-) -but the point is my
5th baby had no problem if I ate a little chocolate. Also it seems that if
you delay eating offending foods until the baby is older, then they can
tolerate you eating some.

I would be extremely careful/cautious offering foods to this baby. I'd
wait until it is very obvious that she wants to eat (past 6 mo, I mean) then
I'd offer things like sweet potatoes, squash, applesauce. Skip cereals
(gasp) until she is old enough to pick up cheerios. Follow baby's lead on
foods. If she rejects them try something else. I feel that babies like this
seem to be able to sense what they can tolerate.
