I
have one more question regarding mothers increasing their fluids to help
with jaundice. I was again told by my practitioner that this is helpfull? I
have no infomation on this matter and would like info on how this may work.
I cant figure this out. I understand how dehydration my be a issue but she
stated something about dilation of protein.
HI Maryanne,
I do not have an answer for your Depo story but I do have a question about
the jaundice comment. The way you wrote this it appears that if the mother were
to increase her fluid intake this would help with jaundice. Is that what you
meant? Or did you mean if a baby were to increase their fluid intake this
would help with jaundice?
Having a mother increase her fluid intake would only make her urinate more.
All babies have some degree of jaundice and the best approach is for the
infant to have >8 feedings/day so they can flush out the excess billirubin through
the bowels and kidneys.
If you could explain a little more about this statement it may help with an
answer.
