I cringe, just a little, when I hear people extol the value of sticking to
community standards. While I understand the need to do this, and the value
in having this guide, how would anything ever get changed and improved if we
all just maintained community standards?

Just a few years ago, the community standard was babies in the Nursery
except for every 4-hour feedings; BF 3 minutes on each side, then 5 minutes
at the next feeding, etc.; babies in the Nursery all night; test bottles for
all babies after birth, etc.

So becareful how you use the argument for community standards, because it
may come to haunt you in the future when you are trying to change something.
