Dear Wiseones,
After viewing Lactnet for several months, I am finally brave enough to send a
request. The knowledge on this net overwelms me altho I,ve been in this line
of work for many years but mostly at the newborn level. A mom called today
with a four month old that is exclusively breastfed infant. No pacifiers and
nothing other than breastfeeding. No abnormal history and nursed well from the
beginning. Good weight gains. The mother states that the last four days she
has noticed a dramatic drop in her milk supply- baby is also fussy and not
happy. The breasts are soft in the morning which is new also. There has been
no chages in the house or the baby's eating patterns. She started pumping
twice a day and saw no results yet. The baby has slept 8 hours a night since
2 months. I thought maybe a growth spurt or the mom is getting her period. I
don't have much experience with older babies so I told her I would ask your
advice. If this is something you would not post please private e mail me .
Thank you for all the words of wisdom from all of you . You are a great
inspiration. TYIA Sharon from Western NY USA
