Just a couple of observations about the exhibits at ILCA, with disclosure that I was there as an exhibitor (Breastfeeding Outlook).

All of this talk about the WHO Code made me go back to the Exhibitor's Prospectus (still available at <http://www.ilca.org/conference/02/ExhibitorProspectus.pdf> if you want to check it out yourself). The only restrictions which seem to be placed on the exhibitor concerning the Code is that all advertising material at the booth or in the syllabus must be in compliance. The exhibitor's activities outside of this context was not relevant. I thought ILCA was more strict, but apparently not.

Then I moved over to the last page of the prospectus, which gives the floor plan of the hall, with the booth numbers for the exhibitors to choose from. Exhibitors give ILCA three choices, and it states that booths will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Fair enough. In the prospectus (which contained the forms need to register), the printed floor plan had 5 booths already spoken for, so they were unavailable to prospective exhibitors in general.

Two of the booths (508 and 510) were assigned to ILCA. Fair enough, it is their conference.

The other three booths, prime corner and row-end spaces, were 400, 500 and 502, and simply listed as "N/A", already spoken for, and unavailable right from the start.

Care to guess who got these booths before the rest of the world had a chance at them?

Yup, Playtex and Avent.

Just a little more food for thought.
