>There have been a few posts lately mentioning depression in women who

There are many posts on this drug in the Archives, several of which note
problems with depression. I know of one case personally in which a mom who
was employed was advised by her LC to take Reglan to boost her milk supply.
Baby was three months old. She did caution her to have her family and
co-workers to look for mood changes. Five weeks later the mom was in a
psychiatric hospital for a stay of two weeks, baby was abruptly weaned, and
mom was treated for her depression for a year following.

This LC had two such cases, and now does not consider this a drug of choice
for increasing milk supply. Both of these moms were not candidates for
depression.

From Lactnet posts I see that people see the depression after three weeks of
use. Also some have posted that after the drug is discontinued the supply
decreases. Of course severe depression is not a side effect for every
mother, but it is such a serious one that I advise against it if a mother
asks my opinion. With this drug the depression can creep up gradually, then
go to severity quickly.

I recommend Fenugreek or Blessed Thistle capsules for increasing milk
supply. These too are much covered in the Archives.
