I went through the logs from the week I was away-- over 100 pages in word
perfect.
Are we a lively group or what?;-)
I followed the talk about the IBCLE with interest. I resisted the exam for 10
years and just took it.  Why?  Because I truely believe that it should be a
requirement for LC's. I 've had so much trouble with people who use the title
but have nothing to back it up--not the education (they started a program but
didn't finish) or some hospital decided take a nurse and call her their LC.
What makes an LC?
How about starting with the ILCA Comptency Statement?
Is the exam perfect--no-- but they are working on it. I wonder how long it
took to perfect the board exams for other professions.  We are still very
young and those that make up the IBCLE board are listening and learning.
 Would more questions help? I don't know. Essay type answers aren't a
solution either. Would would grade them? How would you remove personal bias
The problems are endless.
IMHO it has to start with the education programs--ie a standardized
curriculum aimed at meeting the requirements for the board exam.  When I sat
for my RN boards I had no doubts that I was well prepared and breezed through
the tests.
There are many many questions yet unanswered--time will work them out.
