Yes, it is entirely possible that milk can taste different between breasts.  
Espeically if the supply is down in breast because of side preference.  
Remember, milk does become more "concentrated" when there is less being 
produced and that concentration can change the taste.  

Likely, it tastes a lot more salty!  I have also heard "bitter" as a decreasing 
supply's description.

If this mom wants to try to encourage her child back to the less-favoured 
breast, then she might want to pump that side regularly to try to increase the 
supply, and therefore hopefully make the taste more palatable to her little one.

You don't say how old her little one is, but if he is an older baby, perhaps she 
could also try bargaining with the child, such as:  Nurse on this side for such 
and such a time and then you may the other side.  Or something like that.

If it's younger baby, she might just want to start with the less favoured side 
each time she nurses (after she has increased her supply).
