The aggressive non nurser is the type I have good luck with finger feeding.
Let's him totally forget why he (notice it's he?) doesn't want to be there
at breast. Then try again with your help, extra pair of hands. Also don't
use cradle hold when trying first time after week or so of finger feeds. I
get better luck with "football" hold. Find that period of finger feeding
(mom pumps her milk) lets everyone calm down and back off (baby
included). When Dad is home he can help with finger feeding so mom can
just pump and get a break. Have even found that these babies don't totally
regress if given one bot in middle of night when everyone is exhausted.
Most babies its a few days. Longest I had was 18 days FF. But remember
tis was usually started near birth and you are 5 weeks down the wrong path.
This kid really has his mind made up! Think CST sounds like a great idea.
Probable initial cause - stress of long labor backed up with some sort of
anesthesia for c/s.
Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
