Perhaps you should suggest to the doctor that he look up some hospital
policies from 25 years ago or so. When I had my first child, 24 years ago,
the policy was that the baby did not nurse for the first day, then was
allowed to nurse for 2 minutes on each breast every four hours for the next
day, 4 minutes per side every four hours the next day, and so on. While I
would NOT recommend this, the babies survived. Some of the mothers even
managed to breastfeed (hard as it is to believe).
