While it is true this is a free country, (well, sort of...) and
capitalism means buyer beware, even in choosing a doc, not to mention
buying a book, let's still remember that when the Ezzos had published
verifiably inaccurate and potentially dangerous guidelines for parents,
many people complained to their publisher. Eventually, the publisher
decided to drop the book, even though it was reportedly very profitable.
Let one parent take Cohen's advice to put the baby down at a "reasonable
hour" while still awake and come back at 7:00AM.... and have that baby
be dead for any reason at all, and the liability could be astronomical.
If I were that man's publisher, I would be concerned, disclaimer or no
disclaimer.
The publisher is:
Regan Books , a division of Harper Collins

Just as a personal rant, I am tired of men writing books telling mothers
that they are just a little too neurotic, and that they, the big, the
strong, and the sensible, need to set us straight because we little
ladies are just too weak-minded to know what to do for our own babies-
or we might- horrors- feel GUILTY about something!
I recognize this Strict Father model in all it's destructive
permutations. Ezzo was the quintesential Strict Father and this guy
Cohen just has a slightly fuzzier packaging of the same mentality. Yuck.
