I just heard about Jean Cotterman's death, which is why I have resumed lactnet mail, to read and contribute to the tributes. I valued her friendship and email interactions and enjoyed the three nights or so when we shared a room in Vienna in 2008.

Laurie, you are so right. Jean has left her mark on the profession and RPS is something we shall use with mothers for decades to come. Not just that (and that's a huge contribution), but she has touched our hearts by being the person she was. Jean was also one of the remaining IBCLCs to certify in the initial cohort in 1985 and still be certified.

Vale, Jean.

Subject: Remembering Jean Cotterman

I was very saddened at the news of Jean's passing. She surely left a distinctive and memorable impression on me via lactnet and personal correspondence. I know she will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She has made her mark, as well, in lactation history. Just this week I was helping a lovely family and explaining RPS and telling about Jean and how this technique now helps so many people. I certainly will miss her here.
