I would wonder if her milk supply was impeded due to the poor health of
the baby to begin with? I would say there may be a problem with milk
transfer that may have evolved into a low supply. Have you tried breast
compression and Domperidone?

I have permission to post from mom - who BTW is an OB nurse~~

She has a 8 month old baby girl she is breastfeeding

birth:  7 lbs 4oz  and 20"

8 months: 15 lbs and 27 1/4"

septic at birth with e.coli...treated with abx for 2 week
no meningitis

She is gaining weight, but since 10/31 she has only gained 1 lb 6oz.
She is slowly dropping in the growth chart. She is now in the 7th
percentile.
per mom is advanced in all her developmental milestones and appears
happy and healthy

have ruled out a cardiac reason, kidney problems, anemia. Scheduled for
CF testing next Thursday. although no symptoms - per mom - of CF

Mom has breastfed 2 babies prior to her with no problems

Mom has tried nursing on just one side so that she will get more hind
milk. That hasn't helped. She won't eat meat, the jarred variety or
home prepared. She does eat yogurt...made from whole milk. She will
eat some fruit mixed with cereal, but no vegetables.

Family history for size :
Mom is 5-7 and 125 lbs. ~ mom states she has always been thin

Dad is 6 and weighs 175. ~dad always been thin

2 older child are on the thin side now, but were chunky babies. They
were breastfed babies as well.

some small people in our family hx. Mom has mentioned this to my pedi
numerous times. He stated that if her growth curve would plateau then
he would attribute it to familial size. However, since her growth curve
is dropping he's concerned.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have not seen this mom and baby in person - to me it sounds like the
baby is just petite, every thing else is normal except for her weight
gain.... am I missing something? Any suggestions?? Thanks! Cindy
