I only have my older edition Hale here at home, but it states there is
little info on this med and it is relatively new. The newer edition of Hale
may give more info and will likely suggest alternative meds for this mom's
condition. The peak for this med is given as l.5 to 4 hrs, so it seems (for
this mom who is bf a 14 mo old only morning and night) the peak time could
be easily avoided. The mother could choose to see her doctor for a
consultation and ask for a different medication that has a better safety
profile for bf women. Or the mother might choose to continue this
medication, avoiding the peak, and monitoring her blood, milk, and probalby
child's blood levels. In order for more info to be obtained and documented
on this particular med as used in bf moms, the mother could be a subject for
such a study. Dr. Hale could possibly be of help to her physician regarding
monitoring of said levels. Her physician could make contact and they could
publish their findings.
