I really like the biliblanket systems for this very reason. Parents can
cuddle their infants and co-sleep with them while the biliblanket is wrapped
around the baby's torso. This isn't total skin to skin, but it certainly is
nicer for babies than the bank of overhead lights.

When I get a phototherapy call, I tell the parents to set up a nest while I
am on my way to set up the biliblanket. They need a place where Mother can
be comfortable with baby, complete with all the creature comforts Mother
needs. This facilitates frequent latch on, frequent feedings, frequent
stooling and gets the bili level dropping by the time I come back to draw
blood the next morning.

Biliblankets are truly wonderful. I have not switched to the bilibed system
because the baby must lie on its back with the bank of lights underneath
their body. When it is feeding time, the baby must be removed from the
bilibed or mothers has to be a contortionist. The more frequent the feeds,
the less time baby gets light therapy. The biliblanket remains on
constantly and I see great results.
