Debbie Gillespie states "Just in case it wasn't really freezing that caused
the change in odor, I wanted to add my two cents. Two moms I've helped with
particular problems with frozen milk smelling rancid turned out to be basic
housekeeping than biology. One mom wasn't cleaning her pump parts
thoroughly enough so that even freshly pumped milk had an off smell. Once
she properly took apart the pump parts and washed them thoroughly, the
problem went away."

Debbie et al,

I have had the same problems with moms not cleaning pump parts well. Isn't
there an explanation in the directions that tells them to take the pump
set-up "completely" apart? It seems to happen with both the PNS & PY. I
just recently saw a mom that was using her PNS for a second pregnancy.
After she had pumped I tried to remove everything from the pump kit; the
little yellow things @ the bottom of the shield were stuck on so tight I had
a great deal of trouble getting them apart. When mom came in and saw what I
was trying to do she said, "Oh, I didn't know those came apart!" She had
NEVER taken them apart, not even removing the white disc on the yellow
part!!!!! Why don't they know this?
