Heather writes: "I feel unhappy that women's energies are being directed in
this way (encouraging women to fast prior to pregnancy to rid the body of
fat-stored toxins, then build back up again w/organic foods)...why do we
have so much poison in our bodies? This is an
international and political scandal."

Good grief!! Another way to view women's bodies as toxic, or noxious, or
dangerous, or unclean, or...This really, really makes me mad! No, I mean,
REALLY mad! Why can't they just leave our bodies alone to function and carry
on without all this ridiculous tampering? I am sick and tired of women being
told YET AGAIN that our bodies are "impure" or "unwholesome"! What a crock!

Yes, it is a scandal, Heather! And who gets stuck with being the dirty
bearer of these poisons? That would be women, as usual. Who gets stuck
between having to ingest toxins from their mothers' milk and the toxins and
other hazards, known and unknown, in inferior artificial baby milks? Well,
that would be the babies, about whom the powers-that-be only seem able to
drum up much righteous concern when it suits their purposes. Funny, since
most of the time their needs don't count for squat (an expression that in
the US means "nothing" - short for "diddly-squat").

And oh, guess what? Well, yes, there *is* profit to be made from
promulgating this concept of poison mothers' milk, not to even mention the
ubiquitous motive of plain old unadulterated fear of the female life force.

Don't any of these dreaded "toxins" ever work their way into men's sperm?

Cathy Bargar, RN IBCLC (**not** denying that there are chemicals and
pesticides in breast milk - but also not convinced that cow's milk or
laboratory-based concoctions could possibly be any better!)
