In my old textbook of surgery "Bailey and Love's Short Practice of
Surgery", 14th edition, published by H.K. Lewis & Co. Ltd. 1968,
London (first edition 1932), there is a drawing (figure 764) of a
woman, obviously from the 18th or 19th century, feeding a baby on the
breast, and a toddler breastfeeding on a breast on the mother's thigh.
