Hi, not sure if this is too simple or not, but is mom trying to breastfeed again when baby fusses and cries (and then shuts down) 1-2 hours after
a feeding or is mom trying to make the baby wait for the whole 3 hours? Breastmilk does digest in about 90 minutes. This is actually the normal
time for the babe to start showing cues for hunger. If she is using the fact that baby is not fussing after 1-2 hours and can wait 3 hours (or more)
with formula that is because it is FORMULA and sitting like a large curd in the baby's belly trying to digest and maybe a larger volume was taken.
3 hours is a very unnatural amount of time to MAKE a 5 week old baby wait between EVERY feeding. That is a bottle/formula/scheduled feeding
mentality.

Just read the article on Brooke Shields in People magazine and in it she mentioned to the interviewer that she would need to breastfeed in about
45 minutes and 3/4 of an hour later she did. She understands the need for frequent feeds.

I know perhaps baby might have other issues but the explanation of her problem just sounded so basic. Is there a little more information to put
with it? Diapers, weight gain, trying to make baby wait, oversupply, lactose overload? Just curious.

Cheryl
