There is so much talk of vaccinating pregnant women now that I cringe.
Being pregnant in 1973 it was a given that I would take no meds besides
prenatal vitamins, (even over the counter) as almost everything was
suspect as being teratonic, capable of causing birth defects.  My
husband and I both got bronchitis that winter and my OB/GYN put us both
on penicillin, explaining that it did not cross the placenta and
wouldn’t hurt my fetus.
