Cathy,
I have spent lots of time on the same issues as you. We disinfectant pop up cleaners on the outsides of the pumps. We use these cleaning sheets on many external surfaces within the hospital.
When we had our JCHACO survey this past fall, they only asked about our ed program and how we address the sentinel events found on their website(hyperbilirubinemia is one) They loved the diaper diary by the way, because it helps to identify intake of the baby.
I would like to hear as well how other hospitals address the issue. Biomed checks our pumps yearly too. But checking for microbes should be done as well on a routine basis besides cleaning the exterior.
