Have gotten no comments on my question about the possibility of boiling of
breastmilk for reduction of possible HIV exposure in a mom who may be HIV
positive. Most of us donīt have at available to us the hot water bath
equipment to do correct pasteurization.

I had hesitated to comment on this particular case, but when I read the
post mentioning that it is a very small likelyhood mom will catch it, I had
to add my comments.

A close friend and co-worker had a needle stick on August 5 (my sonīs
birthday), from an HIV positive pregnant patient of mine. She had a clear
test
3 months later then in December became very ill - and was found to be
positive. Devastating for a young woman without children and newly
married...

It may not be common - but if itīs me and I may infect my husband or my
baby, I would want to know the facts, not the ĻoddsĻ.
