City asked to educate public on breast-feeding rights
Babies have the right to be fed in public: advocate
SUSAN O'NEILL
Jan. 23, 2007
Toronto Public Health (TPH) is recommending a new policy designed to educate
the public about the rights of breast-feeding mothers who are entitled to
nurse their babies anytime, anywhere.
"There have been some incidents where women have been asked to cover up or
go somewhere else (to continue feeding)," said Olga Jovkovic, a manager in
healthy families who reported that TPH is aiming to support women who
breast-feed and to educate the public about a woman's right to do so.
