Dear Lactnet Friends:

Kika has beautifully expressed the question of our time:

"So the debate is

the one that pops up more and more often in medicine...
should we do something just because we technically can? "

I thought of this when I was having trouble conceiving. After 3 losses and
getting older all the time, I went to the local infertility center but
could not go through all the hormonal injections and protocol for IVF.

I
did take one round of Clomid, and every time that baby
 (now a grown-up)
gets sick or has any
health concerns, I think of that and feel vulnerable, for both of us. There
is nothing without consequence.

I also fear for that baby's spouse, conceived while the mother was taking
oral contraceptive pills. . . .

Powerful
 scary stuff. . .

warmly,
