Winnie Sunshine "...has also noticed delayed
lactogenesis (or lactogenesis II if Gini is reading this!) with many but
not all c-sections. Are other folks noticing this?"

I used to think this was true, but since we have made a real effort to get
C/S babies and moms together for the first breastfeeding in the first 1 1/2
hours after birth, the milk is "coming-in" the same as for vaginal
deliveries. Our C/S moms usually have epidurals and Duramorph after the
delivery. This pain control helps them to be more alert and comfortable so
that they are able to BF frequently during the first 24 hours and after.

It is true what we always said: Frequent BF from birth and BF early and
often to get the best start.
