This article that appears to origiinate from New Zealand was included as a link in a daily Google breastfeeding. Don't know if anyone in New Zealand would be interested in following up?

Mothers are being warned to cut out fizzy drinks and fast foods, or condemn their child to weight problems. 

Early research shows a poor diet while pregnant or breastfeeding can cause heavy birth weight and susceptibility to diabetes. 

New Zealand's child obesity rates are now catching up with the United States, where 10 to 15 percent of under-19s are obese and a high percentage are overweight. 

Dr Kevin Grove from Oregon National Primate Research Centre is visiting Otago University. 

He says a mother can help the heath of her child by reducing fatty foods and being active herself.
