Hi all,
Just wanted to report favorable media coverage of bf in USA Today, Oct 10,
Section D - Life, p. 8D, under "Health & Education."
The article is "Company Policy: Healthy pregnancy" by Kim Painter. It
mentions lactation rooms, programs urging prolonged bf, and Rona Cohen's
workplace lactation programs. It talks about decreased health care costs
thru bf and less lost time by employed mothers. A report is cited, called
"Business, Babies, and the Bottom Line" to be released Oct 10 by the
Washington Business Group on Health, "a non-profit group that studies health
policy for large corporations."
Then there is a box within the story entitled "Strong babies are good
business" which again discusses bf, lactation programs, and moms'
appreciation of same. The photo in the article is of a mom holding her baby
and another woman bringing in the electric breastpump and setup. BTW, the
baby appears to be about 4 or 5 mos old to me, which is a message saying OK
to nurse longer than 3 mos.
