Robin: This mom really needs to get serious about the allergy thing and
thoroughly eliminate dairy first. This means not only the cheese, but
EVERYTHING that has whey, casein, lactose, milk solids, milk chocolate,
etc. Yes, it is a pain, but in 2-3 weeks she will probably see a totally
different child and feel a whole lot better about nursing and parenting.
If dairy isn't the answer (and it's likely that it is) then start to work
on other foods. There are some excellent books in this area. One author
who has done a lot is Doris Rapp. You need to explore the mom's feelings
as to why she isn't completely following the elimination diet. Does she
not believe that this is the cause, or is she looking for an excuse to stop
nursing (which several of us have had moms like this)? I hope this helps.
WarmLLLy,
Chris
