The snappy comeback responses have been terrific, I've had great laughs
over them.
After being asked many times by my brother if I was 'still' nursing I
asked (very pleasantly in a non-confrontive manner) 'Why do you ask?'
It turns out he was curious because his wife had tried to breastfeed each
of their children but found the milk 'gone' by six weeks. He was puzzled
by my obviously thriving child. He never asked again, but I have always
felt better knowing where he was coming from and why the eternal question.
Having this experience early prompted me to try to educate rather than
alienate.... I saved caustic remarks for the obnoxios few who were too
ignorant to learn.

Dorothy Brewster's book 'You can breastfeed... even in special situations'
has four pages of comments and possible meanings/responses. (p.465 - 468)
